Homecoming Party
Hello! I have a ton to do today, so I quickly want to jump on here and get this posted as I find if I delay too long I just get too far behind, and then everything loses its context of when we did it as is evidenced by this post. A couple weeks after Winston got home from his mission he gave a talk at church on his time in Germany and what he learned from his experience. I was so proud of him. He did such an amazing job! One of the things that he talked about in his talk was how he learned so much and how he took things that were his weakness and made them this strengths. One of his weaknesses was approaching people and talking to them. Winston is/was a pretty quiet person. As a part of the family, we hardly ever knew he was around because he was just so quiet and we always had to make a conscious effort to reach out to him because he never asked for much. Anyway, in his talk, he said the more he approached people and trusted in his heavenly father to give him the words of what to say to people the easier it got! This applied not only in regards to teaching people about our faith but in regards to providing appropriate service for those he served. Sometimes, when we want to help people we want to help them in ways that are comfortable for us, but in reality, it isn't the service they need and so we need to be good listeners and also listen to the Holy Ghost in answers on how we can help in the best way. After his talk, we had a big party at our house. It was a lot of fun. We made Brats, pretzels, potato salad, sauerkraut, salad, cookies, fresh fruit, and watermelon lemonade. It was a perfect day!
