I am not entirely sure what the history is of this place (I think they did hotpot under a previous owner or something?) but whatever they finally landed on was pretty darned good (5557 Rosemead Boulevard, 626-237-0001). The seafood was all very fresh and delicately prepared, including not just those lightly truffed yet delicate shrimp above, but also a lobster noodle as well as delightfully bright clam soup. These guys knew what they were doing and were quite differentiated, despite outwardly looking not that different from many stateside Chinese restaurants. Maybe that's why they commanded such big crowds tonight.
