Japan’s Katsu-An in Singapore’s Suntec City
The folks behind Sukiya (and new owners of Lotteria!) have brought their tonkatsu chain down to the equator (3 Temasek Boulevard #B1-149A). The physical venue looks very similar to Sukiya in terms of the seating configuration, kiosks, and even printed menus, but obviously the food is focused on tonkatsu, and not a particularly good one, unfortunately.
The panko is rather coarse and hard, and the pork wasn't particularly special either. But that's missing the point, as this place is more about the affordable prices and convenience instead, not unlike Sukiya. That means that I'm definitely not going to wait in line for this place agin, but won't complain either if it just happens to make for a fast and convenient meal.
