Harris Graduates
Hello! How are you? I hope you are having a good start to your week. We just got home from Utah last night. We went to Utah to attend the graduation of our son Harris from BYU. He obtained a degree in Computer Science Engineering. We left last Wednesday and flew into Salt Lake. Harris met us in the city and we went to Benihanas for lunch/dinner. Afterward, we walked around the city and then drove out to our hotel in Murray. On Thursday, we got up early and drove down to Provo where BYU is located. Provo is about an hour south of Salt Lake City. The graduates had to line up at around 8:30 a.m. for the ceremony at 10. Sadly, I wasn't able to find Harris before the ceremony, but we were surprised that we bumped into old friends from my husband's graduate school days. The Alreds now live in Virginia. Their son was also graduating. I am so bummed that I didn't think to take a picture. We also ran into a young woman named Emily from church who was also graduating and grew up with our son. The ceremony was wonderful and afterward, we took pictures and then grabbed Jamba Juice before the ceremony for his college which was the School of Physical Science and Mathematics. It was impressive to hear what the doctoral students studied and where they will be going after graduation. We are so proud of Harris. Following the ceremony, my husband and son grabbed some ice cream while I went shopping in the bookstore. I had strict instructions to buy a few things for the girls. Just as we were leaving, we ran into our friends' daughter Emily and her husband Skyler. Skyler graduated that day in statistics and is headed to work in the National Lab in New Mexico. Just a note for myself, our friends Mary Maycock, Alex and Zach Rahm, Brynn Davis, Jack Damniamno, Brook Anderson, Maggie Jenson, and Talmadge Lamb also graduated. Oh, I almost forgot and we ran into our friend Tom Burton whose son-in-law was graduating. It was so much fun to see our friends and celebrate in their joy as well as ours. On Friday, it was pouring rain, so we just hung out in the hotel where we soaked in the hot tube and watched some Netflix. Since Harris didn't have a place to stay he joined us and for dinner, we drove up to Park City where we went to Ruth Chris Steak House for dinner. The crazy thing was that it was snowing. The food was wonderful. On Saturday our last day, we drove up to Logan where we met with my best friend's daughter for lunch and then took a tour of the Utah State University Campus and ate some of the best ice cream at the creamery. I had the Space debris which was huckleberry with raspberry swirl and chocolate chunks. Yummy! Then we made a stop by the temple. Logan is so gorgeous! It was a good trip and I am so grateful that Harris was able to go to such a good university.
Harris friend Jack who he met on the first day of school.
