Wah Kuih

I came to this stall (335 Smith Street #02-116) precisely because I had never heard of wah kuih before. It started with those rice cakes in those bowls, but was served with a brown sauce and garlic puree on top. And it was precisely that garlic puree and brown sauce that reminded me of Taiwanese oyster mee sua. The rice cake, on the other hand, tasted like nuomifan, especially with its bits of shiitake and dried shrimp. It's not bad, but that raw garlic means that one will have to plan ahead to make sure that they don't have contact with many human beings afterwards.
