This place is run by a former Rang Mahal and Song of India chef (723 East Coast Road, 6282-4648). But unlike those upscale restaurants, this is much more down to earth, and even rather energetic on a surprisingly busy Thursday lunch hour. The menu features playful renditions of everything from chaat to curry. Some of those worked really well, while others were a bit bizarre and unnecessary.
My favorite was the "Monsterous MB Papad": a gigantic papadum spanning maybe a fifteen inches and topped with fine slivers of sev chickpea noodles and spices like chili peppers. The way that they served pani puri was kinda nifty too: the puri shell sat on a shot glass containing the green pani fluid, making it easy for one to fill the shell without dripping and quickly inserting it into one's mouth.
The thing that didn't work for me was a naan-based pizza, which just tasted like bad pizza. The pav bhaji was tacky: the curry was served in a top-heavy martini glass, and was accompanied by garlic bread. And that eggs kejriwal above was too carb-heavy for me. But I liked the kebabs as well as the cocktail that I ordered; it'd be fun to come back one day for dinner.
