Sang Mee

This cze char (116 Commonwealth Crescent #01-129, 6472-5361) is known for its butter pork ribs: deep-fried pork coated in a white powder made from butter and milk. But it ended up tasting like neither. Instead, it was sweet, and wasn't anywhere as buttery as its name suggested. Worse, the pork itself was dry and tough, making it something that we won't bother ordering again.

What was much more impressive was that sang mee above, whose shrimp and pork were wonderfully fresh and tender. I was happy with how smoky their omelettes were too, and was also glad that I grabbed a plate of their drunken cockles. Its crudely chopped bits of garlic wasn't as refined as Putien's version, but nonetheless was fun to eat as a cold starter with beer. More importantly, everything here was amazingly cheap.
