4th of July Boston Day 13
23 years ago after finishing college, I came to visit my father. While visiting him, I made some friends at church and they invited me to join them to see the Boston Pops at the Esplanade or as we call it the Hatch for the 4th of July. The experience was over the top and I knew someday I wanted to create that experience for my children. The day was perfect. We had no problems finding parking, we easily found seats under the shade of the giant oak trees and the heat was bearable. Since the Boston bombings, the security has increased, so it is a little difficult to go in and out of the venue, but they have provided plenty of vendors for you to choose from if your picnic supplies dwindle. The children had fun playing at the playground, getting free candy from sour punch, and the entertainment was fantastic. We saw the Boston Pops, Queen Latifah, Arlo Guthrie, and the Texas Tenors along with the Navy Core Singers. It was wonderful! Ivy fell asleep just shortly before the fireworks started at 10:15 but overall the day was amazing. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Celebrating 4th of July in the cradle of Independence and our forefathers made it even more special.
