Wow! It has been a crazy week. The children's last day of school is tomorrow and thus begin the daily task of entertaining them. The only one signed up for any camps is Winston who will be attending a running camp in North Carolina for his cross country running team. The three girls are doing swim team and have their first meet tonight. Granted it is just a mock meet, but the girls are so excited. They have been working very hard for the last 4 weeks every day after school. Once swim team is over we will leave for our summer adventure trip that will take us from Nashville to Maine and back. Nana is coming with us, so it should be fun. Anyhoo, on our way home from Pidgeon Forge, Tennessee we stopped at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center. We have passed many times but never stopped. The kids enjoyed stretching their legs and running from one building to the next. The Visitor Center gives you a look into North Carolina mountain life long ago. Sadly the elk were not there when we stopped, but often in the evenings, the surrounding field is filled with wild elk. It is definitely worth the stop. The park rangers will set you up with a list of plenty of things to see while visiting the Smokie Mountains. Next time we visit, I would like to take the kids on one of the many short hikes to neighboring waterfalls or to the Oconaluftee Indian Village. Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend.
