New York in a Day

Hi!  How are you?  Hope you are doing well and if you are reading this from North Carolina then I hope you are staying warm and safe.  My son just sent me a link to footage from the area and wow!  Praying when all is said and done that there won't be too much damage and that they will be able to restore power to the areas affected quickly.  New York in a Day isn't meant for the first time traveler to New York City.  I have been to New York a couple of times, and this trip was concocted on the desire to visit the Color Factory Museum and to visit with my friend Lucy.  I traveled from Atlanta to Washington D.C. where I met up with my friend Lucy and from there we traveled to Secaucus, New Jersey where we booked a hotel room.  The rooms are much cheaper on the New Jersey side and just outside the hotel doors, you can take a bus into the city for $8.25.  It was really so easy.  It was so great seeing my friend Lucy.  I had missed her so much while we were in Europe.  Lucy used to live down the street from me in Atlanta, but while we were in Germany for the year her and her family moved to Washington D.C.  Our first stop in NYC was at the Blue Bell cafe.  Once our bellies were full we hopped a cab and headed to the Whitney Museum.  The Museum wasn't on our original plan of places to visit, but with the rain coming down sheets, it just wasn't going to be possible to wander the West Village.  After exploring the museum, we headed to Levain Bakery where we got one of their famous chocolate chip cookies.  Seriously so good, but one cookie could easily feed two.  They are served warm.  Yummy!  Before moving on to our next destination, Lucy and I grabbed salads from Sweet Green.  I had the chicken curry chickpea bowl and Lucy had the BBQ bowl, but you can build your own bowl too!  Hoping on the subway we traveled to the Color Factory.  I had read about the Color Factory on another blog last year when it was in San Francisco and was sad that I didn't get a chance to see it.  I was thrilled to find out that they would be opening in New York.  The Color Factory Museum is a pop-up museum the brainchild of Jordan Ferney blog writer of Oh Happy Day in collaboration with a variety of artist.  The concept is an interpretation of color how it affects our moods, our everyday life, and even the foods we eat and is fun for all age groups.  It is an interactive museum.  Sadly, after the museum, it was time to head back to Jersey where we picked up Lucy's car to drive back to D.C. because I had to fly home on Tuesday morning.  I am not complaining though!  It was a great day!
