On the Trail of C.S. Lewis

Hi!  I am back in Germany.  I hope you are all doing well.  I just dropped my mother off at the airport and I am ready to tackle the over 500 images I took in Ireland.  Ireland is spectacular!  At one point, my son said mom will you just put the camera down and enjoy the trip!  If you are a photographer, you will find it hard not to want to take a photo of everything because there is really so much to see and do! If I am being honest though, I probably wouldn't have taken the children with me as they would have preferred going somewhere they could have lived in their swimsuits for the last 10 days.  Don't get me wrong, Ireland is extremely family friendly.  They kind of just live by the philosophy you gotta let children just be children; however, Castles and green fields filled with sheep just weren't really my kid's cup of tea.  So are you ready to see Ireland?  Buckle your seat belts and let's go!

The writer C.S. Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland on 22nd of November, 1998 and lived there until he was sent to boarding school in England at the age of 9 when his mother died of Cancer.  In 2016, the city of Belfast opened a square in tribute to the famous writer.  There you will find multiple sculptures from the book Narnia. I will give you a little warning and that is they are not so easy to find.  When we set off to find the square we put the address in the GPS and ended up driving in circles until we abandoned our efforts and went on to our next destination.  The next morning I was determined to find the square and once again same thing happened.  This time a little fish and chip shop was opened and I went in to inquire where the statues and to our surprise, it was just a little down the way across from the McDonalds at the corner of Connswater and Combers Greenway.  You will find the statue of C.S. Lewis and the wardrobe in front of the city library walk down the path and you will find the rest of the statues.  Stay tuned for more photos of Belfast and the rest of Ireland!
