5 movies
As the year comes to an end and the weather draws us inside, here are 5 movies for review. The first is my absolute favorite of the group. I have to be honest that when my mother told me I should watch this movie I was I don't think so, I mean Kate Winslet is awesome but who wants to watch to people on top of a mountain. I honestly thought this movie was going to be boring. I was so wrong!!! The whole movie I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for what next would happen. Her co-star I was not familiar with his name is Idris Elba a London native and not new to the Hollywood seen isn't to bad on the eyes either, but I was not familiar with any of his works. He is the perfect counter park to Kate. Now on DVD or available for streaming definitely worth the time to watch.Since I started with my favorite, now I will present my least favorite movie which was Dunkirk. I was so looking forward to this and while maybe watching it on the big screen would have helped some, it would have not been enough to make up in the complete lack of character development of this movie. I can't even tell you how sad I was at the end of this movie because honestly I had looked forward to watching it for months. Dunkirk is about the what happened to the soldiers there in WWII, and believe me I love war movies. Maybe the director and writer wanted the viewer to focus on what happened that day, but to be honest most viewers familiar with the time in history know what happened. I didn't walk away with understanding why it happened, more about the story, and as I stated no character development. It could have been a really awesome story. I do feel like this movie would be good for the 80 year old grandpa in the family. So if you are looking for something for grandpa to watch while the rest of the family plays chess or Uno this is your movie.
Tulip is just absolutely visually stunning. The costumes are beautiful, the setting is beautiful; however, if are expecting to see a ton of backdrop of Holland than you will be disappointed. This is not a movie my husband would sit through but would is a perfect chic flick. So gather your sisters or sister-in-law or invite your girl friends over and enjoy. Tulip Fever is set in the height of the Tulip craze of the 17th century. A story of a young woman who is married off to a much older man and is terribly unhappy. Her husband a rich merchant hires a painter to paint them and a romance develops between the young girl and the painter.
The next two movies are for the children in your family. The star obviously about the Christmas story is cute and the music is lovely. The story line could have been stronger, but if you are looking for a movie for the little ones it is worth going seeing. Coco is the second movie! This movie has a strong story line and is visually beautiful. It was a little scary for my 6 year old girls and we had a lot of talks afterwards about dying and what happens to us when we die, but it is still worth watching. Personally, I thought Beauty and the Beast was scary, but my poor girls were stuck on the theme of dying instead of the message about honoring our ancestors and appreciating are loved ones while they are hear on earth.
My boys come on Saturday from America and I am so excited. We will definitely be going to see the Star Wars movie and will probably go see Ferdinand based on the beloved book by Munro Leaf. I am not sure if I will be posting again before next Monday. I have one more post that is starting to take shape in my head, but if not than I wish you and your family a very Happy Holiday Season. We will be going to my mother-in-laws house for Christmas which we haven't done since my husband and I were first married. The children are so excited! Happy Holidays!
