Not to be confused with Xiaofeiyang Little Sheep restaurants from China, this Mongolian hot pot chain here in Taipei is called Xiaomengniu. It was all you can eat, but still totaled about NT$1000 (US$33) if one got the more expensive option featuring items like wagyu and prawns.
I didn't like it. The broth looked beautiful when it first came out, especially with all those colorful chili peppers and seeds glistening on top. But it wasn't spicy, and it didn't have much depth. The herbal soup on the other side fared a little better, but even then, it was a bit sweet. And that sauce that they gave to accompany everything was also a bit sweet. I didn't care for the boring cuts of lamb or beef here either.
The only saving grace was that you could get as many cans of beer as you wanted. And there were actually quite a few things on the menu that I wanted to try, but just didn't have the stomach space for. Well, I'm not coming back to this place, especially since I left here smelling like B.O.
